Island Docks Mini-Golf

A compact 9-hole built for AR

A compact, playable mini golf level set on a weathered wooden dock surrounded by water. Each hole was designed with distinct visual framing, drawing from cinematic composition for lighting, camera angles, and material definition.

Significant thought was given to spatial organization and player progression. The starting view of each hole subtly foreshadows the next, while the end of every hole provides a clear, natural path to the following tee. The compact layout is carefully balanced to support multiple strategic approaches without wasted space.

The level emphasizes strategic yet accessible gameplay — every hole allows for a hole-in-one while offering multiple approaches. The design adapts to AR by aligning to real-world surfaces and lighting, and supports immersive VR testing of ball physics and collision.

Dynamic elements include a rising tide that changes water levels and moves floating docks, sand surfaces that reduce ball acceleration, and custom rigged lighting to control mood and visibility throughout the level.

Each hole features distinct strategy and visual framing, with carefully tuned physics across custom textures including wood, stone, grass, and water. Audio cues provide feedback on successful putts and when each texture is activated.
