A retro-futuristic programmable device family

Material choices emphasize tactility and visual hierarchy. Military-grade textured black surfaces pair with subtle orange edge illumination. Emissive shaders on screens, LEDs, and button rings produce the consistent warm orange glow directly in-render — no post-processing.

The devices were modeled entirely in Blender and prototyped via 3D printing. The main chassis uses durable PLA on an AnkerMake M5. Signature oversized buttons were cast in soft TPU through custom silicone molds, delivering a deliberate, compressible feel. A side-mounted handle reinforces the rugged, portable character.

Emissive materials on screens, LEDs, and button rings create that signature warm orange bleed — giving every render depth and atmosphere without a single post-process effect. External battery packs show one hint towards integrated applications and lucrative hardware expansions to build on, growing the design system and product line.

The trailer uses tracking cameras to tour the main areas and highlight the custom sound effects that bring the space to life. Orbital 3D audio shifts between distinct scene areas with and ambient elements such as buzzing flies near the neon sign and showcases custom lighting creating a true liminal space.

The result is a cohesive family of objects that feel both nostalgic and future-ready — perfect as a desk companion, portable creative tool, or collectible set. Fully modeled, shaded, and lit in Blender to highlight the joy of physical interaction in a digital world. Moth3R is intended to be built out to be a larger, more comprehensive design system paying homage to modern technology in a retro-fitted lens.

Where Apollo-era flight meets the raw pulse of the dance floor, the modular Orbital Command DJ Decks emerge as the next evolution in Project Moth3R.

Modular DJ consoles inspired by Pioneer XDJ-700 hardware, reinterpreted through the same space-grade, retro-minimalist language. Designed as fully expandable units that slot into the ecosystem, maintaining the signature orange illumination and focus on physical interaction — bleeding that signature orange glow that warms the void.
